A Narrative With The Facts
Obesity is one of the main healthcare issues in the United States. The condition is attributed to unhealthy eating behaviors as well as a lack of physical activities (Chooi, Ding, & Magkos, 2019). The three previous administrations had different approaches in the management of the health condition highlighted. In other words, for the last three presidential administrations, there were formulations of policies and strategies to enhance the reduction of cases of obesity. Obesity impacts both children and adults equally (Bleich et al., 2016). In the recent past, there has been an increase in the rates or cases of obesity among the population. With the current health complications as well as the number of death that have been recorded, there is a need for every government to make the management of obesity a priority (Pierce & Selee, 2017). To ensure that the issue of obesity is addressed, there is the need to incorporate it into the legislative processes to ensure increased awareness for the millions of people not only in the United States but around the globe.
Obesity is associated with other complications such as diabetes, high blood pressure, or hypertension, as well as other cardiovascular diseases (Sisnowski, Handsley, & Street, 2015). Controlling obesity need to adhere to the interventions which have to be conducted in both the healthcare settings and communities. Addressing the problem of obesity in the healthcare system should be a major concern for every government to enhance the protection of the population’s health (Lighter et al., 2020). Therefore, to improve the health of the entire population, there is always the need to address obesity and related conditions. Passing the legislation on the preventive measures is one of the best ways of managing the rising cases of obesity.
