Week 3 Discussion Nursing Informatics

Week 3 Discussion Nursing Informatics

Discussion: Interaction Between Nurse Informaticists and Other Specialists Nature offers many examples of specialization and collaboration. Ant colonies and bee hives are but two examples of nature’s sophisticated organizations. Each thrives because their members specialize by tasks, divide labor, and collaborate to ensure food, safety, and general well-being of the colony or hive. Of course, humans don’t fare too badly in this regard either. And healthcare is a great example. As specialists in the collection, access, and application of data, nurse informaticists collaborate with specialists on a regular basis to ensure that appropriate data is available to make decisions and take actions to ensure the general well-being of patients. In this Discussion, you will reflect on your own observations of and/or experiences with informaticist collaboration. You will also propose strategies for how these collaborative experiences might be improved.

To Prepare:

• Review the Resources and reflect on the evolution of nursing informatics from a science to a nursing specialty.

• Consider your experiences with nurse Informaticists or technology specialists within your healthcare organization.

Post a description of experiences or observations about how nurse informaticists and/or data or technology specialists interact with other professionals within your healthcare organization. Suggest at least one strategy on how these interactions might be improved. Be specific and provide examples. Then, explain the impact you believe the continued evolution of nursing informatics as a specialty and/or the continued emergence of new technologies might have on professional interactions.

Week 3 Discussion Nursing Informatics

The current evolution in technology has brought a lot of changes in the healthcare system. Most healthcare institutions rely on evidence-based practices and research processes to enhance the quality of healthcare delivery. As an s result, there is always the need to integrate nursing informaticists in the healthcare processes. Nurse Informatics may enhance the success of the research and evidence-based practices to ensure effective patient outcomes (Nagle, 2021). In most cases, nurse informaticists play critical roles when it comes to the collection, management, and analysis of data in the healthcare processes. They also play significant roles in developing some of the best technologies that can be used to enhance healthcare delivery processes. With data, healthcare institutions have been able to develop different programs that continue to impact healthcare delivery processes.

Healthcare management always needs to develop collaboration between nurse informaticists and other healthcare professionals to ensure quality delivery to the patients. Today, healthcare delivery processes rely on data collected from patients, healthcare professionals, and other stakeholders to enhance decision-making processes (Ronquillo et al., 2016). As a clinical nurse specialist, I have interacted with the nurse informaticists on several occasions. For instance, we have worked together with nurse informaticists while undertaking evidence-based practices aimed at improving pain management among patients in the critical care units. They provided elaborate and conclusive data that I used to conduct evidence-based practices. Different healthcare professionals continue to interact with the nurse informaticists in my healthcare institutions to enhance the quality of healthcare delivery (Lyons et al., 2019).

In most cases, healthcare professionals interact with the nurse informaticists during healthcare research processes and evidence-based practices. They also interact to enhance the application of technology in healthcare systems. The roles of nurse informacists in the healthcare system can be improved through the training of more professionals and engaging them in the continuous learning processes to ensure adherence to the modern technological and data management approaches.

The continued evolution of nursing informatics as a specialty and/or the continued emergence of new technologies have significant impacts on professional interactions. The evolution of nursing informatics will significantly lead to the integration of different healthcare professionals to enhance the delivery of quality healthcare.
